Are Disco drivers more intelligent, or just more considerate?

It's all going to end in tears you know! About 10 years ago the whole BMW thing came to a head when so many had been through the company car market the values crashed and muppets got their hands on them. Hence Hella made a fortune selling "Angel eye" headlamps and front fog lamp kits. Time carried on and in the last two years, tehre is an increasing amount of Audi's finding their front fogs stuck on and exhausts expanding. Seeing as the trend seems to follow the affordability, does it mean that there is a real danger of these deviants getting their hands on a Disco? Quite worryingly is not far from me there is a Range Rover HSE with a bodykit and lots of pimping going on. Have a look at Ebay if you are needing a laugh! NASTY R/R LINK!

Some cars (I have seen on Merc, BMW & Fiat) have "Headlamp Assist - automatic headlamp activation with Cornering Assist".

This means that when you turn (say) a sharp left (maybe with your indicator on), that the lft-hand front fog light comes on to help you see around the corner (don't fall off your seat laughing...it's true!).

Not wishing to start an argument but my two penny’s worth (and yes i agree all blinged up car owners should be crushed in their cars after they have been stopped for no insurance as they can’t afford it after al the mods to their chav mobiles).

Drove a top spec Volvo last year (leant to me for the Air show at Fairford) which had Headlamp Assist. On the Volvo I believe these are separate lights that only come when cornering. After a bit of getting used to these proved really useful when driving around dark country lanes at night, especially at speed. Having used them I think they are an improvement to safety.

The thing going through my mind is...

Do these lights temporarily blind other road users then, hence they can only come on when cornering because if not then why don't they have them illuminated with the headlights and give this extra vision full time. On the other hand though, if they are a nuisance and annoy/blind/disorientate other road users then at least the culprit will have the extra lighting to see and avoid the carnage lol. Who knows, I am biased as I've not had the pleasure of trying this out myself. I have however seen an ML series Merc with said system and my only thought was "tosser has a fog light out... hmm."

Absolutely...is it legal? It's NOT legal to drive with your fogs (front or rear) in decent visibility... So, are these "corner assist" devices flouting the law? When you're on an uphill junction, any such lights are bad news (if you;re opposite the driver with corner assist). An extra pair of lights shining in your eyes!

I still do have a motorbike without turning lights on it. It only has 1 headlight, and no front fogs (so no chance of braking rule 226 of the highway code is there)...

I do Apologise my comment was supposed to say::: I used to have a motorbike with turning lights on it. They were a total waste of time, no benefit at all and when on they did look stupid so i alterd the wires and used them as driving lights.

It did say that, they just be ripping the p!ss they do!

Fog lights boil my p i 5 5

Have to say, it has got a bit foggy here tonight. Needless to say, I saw bugger all front or rear foglights but loads of sidelights!

It was foggy here yesterday - so everyone had their front fog lights on but being muppets they also had their dipped lights on which complely defeats the objective of using front fog lights ie reduced glare to the driver - suppose they thought they looked good - probabley had their Oakley shades on as well!

I think the idea some manufacturers had was the rear fog lights went off if you tried to use them the main beam.

So the divs drive around with main beam on in the fog not realising the rear fog lights are out.....great!
