Are Defenders Warm? What Can I Buy?

Thinking of buying my first defender just after christmas, I will only have about £5000 to spend and it will also be my everyday car so I want it reasonably comfy.

I know it's very basic inside and not going to be anywhere near as comfy as a car, but 1 important thing would be to be able to get it up to temperature in the cabin.

Also thinking about spending 3 of the 5k I have on the vehicle, then the other 2k on doing it up.

So if I have 2k, what things can I buy to ensure an nice warm cabin on one of our horrible cold winter days!!

Are the FBH alot more warmer than a 12v ceramic heater? - as I don't rate these even 1/10 for giving off a decent amoun of warmth
 
My 1980s pre Defender 110 is warm and cosy, even when driving at -10 the other night ... thanks to my sheepskin flying jacket and sheepskin gloves. :p

you might be lucky and get it just above freezing point, invest in some thermal knickers / socks / vest and big wooly you will look like a tit but at least you will be warm.
dont forget an ice scrapper for the inside.
 
Hahaha it's not looking good for the ald Defender then, might start looking at Discos! Cold is one thing I hate!
 
My 110 albeit no ordinary 110 is whisper quiet for a Defender and as warm as toast.

Why? Set up perfectly plus loads of modifications make it extremely comfortable for long and short distances.

So a Defender can on your budget be fine.

be brave and get a defender just remember its not cold all year we do get a bit of good weather, looking like a tit once in a while is a small price to pay for the joys of owning a defender. did i say joys ? nurse wheres my medication

What setup and mods have you got if you don't mind me asking?

Lol I thought this too, but when it's cold it's that cold I see brass monkeys crying their eyes out! - Del Boy, Jolly Boys Outing. (before anyone says haha)
 
The heater is quite adequate when working correctly, just setting the heater controls up correctly and making sure the thermostat shuts off tight should be sufficient.
I think a lot of people prefer to moan about the heating and/or go off on some major modification exercise when a few simple adjustments would do the job.
 
If you want comfort and a good heater I would point you in the direction of a Discovery. 'Comfort' and 'Defender' are two words which should never be seen in a sentence together!* :p
