Are Defenders Warm? What Can I Buy?

I plan to fit a curtain behind my seats so that I only have to heat the front, which should make it quicker to heat up and warmer.

But I also have an Eberspacher D1LC which I run off a timer so everything is defrosted before I leave for work and return home.

Is the timer an add on part?

The D1Lc comes with a one hour timer in a small black box. When you switch it on it will run for one hour then switch off itself.

I bought a Webasto or Eberspacher mini-timer off ebay for a few quid and bypassed the internal circuitry of the original timer, but I used the relay, and now I have a small timer with a clock which I can set for anything up to 24 hours.

There are timers available which will allow you to program up to a weeks worth of on/off times, but with my job my start times vary and I only get a maximum of about 12 hours notice (often a lot less, sometimes as little as 2 or 3 hours) and my finish times vary constantly so the mini-timer was better for me, it saved me having to go through a whole week to set one on time and I can usually guesstimate my finish time so that when I park in the work's car park I can re-program the time for it to warm things up for me going home.

At the moment, I plan to try to hook it up to a remote control so I can switch it on and off at will from my flat........... Not totally confident I can do it that easily though.
