Arb links inverted

Hi, the rear arb links on my 200tdi 110 would appear to be upside down! They must have been like this all the time I've owned it, but I've never realised it was wrong until today when I had a look under someone else's defender.
When I say upside down I mean the end that the arb is connected to is pointing to 12 o'clock instead of 6 o'clock. There is only a couple of millimetres between the link and the spring seating plate.
Any suggestions as to why??

Maybe been up on a two poster ramp and the axle has dropped so much they have flipped?

Thanks for the reply lynall. I'll look into it tomorrow. Is it just a case of separating the links from the arb, dropping them down and reattaching?

Ive seen this happen on disco's when its had a lift kit fitted & the mounts haven't been lowered.

Thanks Kevstar. My 110 has a 2inch lift kit but it looks like the mounts have been lowered.
When I was looking at the arb/links earlier it seemed to me like the arb would not be long enough for the links to sit in there intended position.(hope that makes sense)

I would assume so, I have not worked on tdi arbs for many years, but they are pretty simple affairs so should not be much hassle.

Do you think the bracket needs a spacer?
I'm sure the arb won't reach down to the correct position.

maybe the extended mounts have been welded too far back ,worth measuring yours i can check against a chassis i have here

Hi James, I hope you are well!
I've measured from the face of the rear crossmember to the centre of the arb where it runs through the bracket, The measurement is 500mm.

try measuring along the chassis from center of bracket top edge,to rear most edge where it joins the chassis of spring mount i get 250mm

293mm from the folded edge of the spring seat or 325mm from the flat side of the spring mount!

That is a well made and executed extension bracket, is the chassis galv?

Hi lynall sorry for the delay.
Yes the chassis is galv. I've decided to extend the arb rather than start messing the galv up.

I was thinking the same thing, I am all for modding stuff, but a nice galved chassis!
What about some sort of heavy flat bar bracket bolted to existing extension piece that the arb d bush bracket can fit to, that way its just a bolt on job?

I was thinking about that but wasn't sure if there would be enough strength at the front fixing point without welding a brace back to the galv bracket, thus weakening the galv.
What do you think?

Are the brackets an addition after the galv?
