L322 Anyone want to watch an L322 burn?

Just when I thought I could learn to like the heap of **** again, this happens - 200 miles into the first day of my French holiday.

This car is SERIOUSLY ****ING ME OFF.

I just checked the oil (I know you shouldn't do it when the engine is hot, but I'm in the middle of nowhere and need to get to my hotel) and it's about 10mm over the top of the max fill line on the dipstick.

I guess there is too much oil? That will teach me to allow a mobile mechanic to work on it. :-(

Yet another problem to try and solve. I'm going to have no money left for my holiday at this rate.

Ok, just wondered if coolant was getting into the sump & causing the oil level to rise. No idea on L322's tbh but really feel for you!

That sounds very much like no oil to the hydraulic lifters and/or big ends.
Oil pump failure maybe?
Really sorry for you mate, that's such bad luck. I always have European breakdown cover from AA when I go abroad. It's expensive but at least you can carry on with your holiday then. I know that's not very much use to you now though.
Let's just hope it's something easily fixable.
Good luck mate.

Don't know yet, still waiting for them to find me...
I was lucky when the merc died in Czech, I was only 2km from my hotel so I went there in a taxi and made arrangements for them to pick me up the following day. They even paid the hotel for me. (they didn't know that I was staying there anyway!)

Sounds to me like zero oil pressure - really feel for you - on hols as well.

Hope you get a rental and salvage what you can of your holiday, that's important.

Any competant workshop should be able to do simple checks and come up with a diagnosis for sensible money - make the decisions then - cross that bridge only when you get to it.

I wish you well as will many others on here.
