On the injection pump is an obvious round diaphragm thing.
There should be a black plastic pipe going from it to the inlet manifold and turbo.

Take the lid off this thing, and clean the crap out of it.

Make sure you can poke the diaphragm thing up and down a bit, and it should spring back when you let it go.

Make sure the black plastic pipe is clear - blow though it to check.

Replace the lid and try again.

This doo-dah is what pours in extra fuel when the turbo starts blowing, and I think it's stuck.
So it won't chuck in the extra fuel so the turbo won't blow properly (hardly at all) and yer truck's a damp squib.
So there.

If this is the cure gonna buy me a Novacom huh?

the pipe with a 12mm banjo on the side of the pump? yep its clear and diaphram moves fine. the pop mark onthe diaphram plate is now set at sort of 10 o'clock and its much better, but still tops out at 60mph, which is bang on 3k. still feels like its revvin to much. the other 2 300's are more than ready for a gear change at 2.5k, and are revving at 2.5k in top gear to get 70mph,and will still pull up to 80 odd. no matter how much road i have, i cant get a decent bypass speed, at a comfy engine speed like them. if i knew what all the factory default settings are for the pump, id put it back, then look from there. i shouldnt have to be tweaking the pump to get it to pick its feet up on the road and behave like its meant to anyway. if you get my drift. does anyone know the factory pump settings/positions, or have any ideas whether its timing, fooked injectors, or worse still, fooked pump maybe?

I just don't get what you are saying.

Are you saying your engine is revving but the car isn't keeping up with it?

If so your cluch is slipping if it's a manual gearbox.

No mate clutch is fine. im a mechanic myself which is why its bugging me because ove checked everything you would normally check, so its stumped a few of us in work now. basically it sounds and seems as if the rev counter is out of calibration, and im wondering if it may have a transfer box from something else in it. it tops out at 60, doing 3k. whereas my mates will do 70 all day at 2.5k. throttle response is more crisp on my mates, and the turbo can be felt kicking in. cant feel it in mine, but is boosting fine. anyone know default pump settings, and also transfer box ratios of standard disco?
