Would you trust your car to Kwik Fit or Halfords?
That's all they are, a franchise operation that will do the simple jobs.

Service Stop are not a franchise, they are a middle man, all they do is take the booking and then they book it in to a local garage, you pay them, they pay the garage, we use to do work for Service Stop but stopped as they took all day to get authorisation on extras and then blamed us for not returning the vehicle back on time plus they tried to drive costs down so much it wasn't worth us doing!

Save yourself the hassle and just book it into a good local garage. If you are unsure on a decent garage go onto Unipart Car Care Center website and have a check on there, all UCCC garages are part of the Motor Codes and are all RAC inspected (I am a UCCC and we get marked on a lot of stuff to retain the franchise)

Also, Halfords garages are turning out to be pretty decent, the mechanics have access to good equipment and training and the company has a good pricing structure, I would still prefer a decent independent garage as generally they try harder to get and keep a good reputation compared to a large chain garage

Agree with you on a decent independent garage.

If they are a middle man takeing a % of the labor, that means the garage gets less money, and it is supposed to be cheaper than direct booking with the garage in the first place............ well sounds like the customer is going to take it up the arse some how, cheap filters, recycled motor oil, some thing just does not sound right:rolleyes:

It wont be cheaper than a decent independent, the 'cheaper than' is compared to dealers and even then thats the best case scenario. They kept trying to beat us down on price, they wanted us to do porsche servicing at under £30 an hour  They really are a terrible company, like I say if you needed brake pads they would take all day to get back to us so it simply wouldn't get done, best go direct to a good place

And what happens is the independent garage gets a bad name because as in your example for taking to long on brakes, as it is a problem of logistics on Service Stop. Peeps say I dropped it off at early am why is it not done you F@@@@ing ****@@s

We were under strict instructions that we could not contact the customers directly or represent our own garage, everything was meant to be under the SS name so that we couldn't poach customers, like I say we gave up with them as its a massive con...
