Anyone Running a TD5 of Veg Oil ?

TD5 engines will run on more or less anything liquid that burns, BUT .....

because of the enormous injection pressures, one needs to take care with the viscosity of the fuel.

Basically you want to be reasonably sure the fuel isn't too thick compared to pump diesel.

If the fuel is too viscous the pump in the tank has to work a lot harder, and the pressures in the Delphi injectors may get so high that things go wrong.

Striaght veg oil is not good for the insides of the engine - too much crud after combustion, so it is better to process it to Biodiesel if you can be bothered, or mix the veg with pump fuel about 50-50. Straight veg thinned with 10 to 20 % kero is also good. The kero helps starting up too.

Neat Biodiesel should be fine in a TD5. Doesn't do mine any harm at all ....

Another answer is to use BioDiesel about 50-50 with pump fuel (keep the fuel receipts in the car to show the dipper-bastards), or even to dilute it with some kerosene. About 10% kero will thin biodiesel down just nicely.

Ignore the crap in the handbook about TD5 not being bio compatible - that's a simple lie.

NEVER run a diesel on striaght kero, as the lack of LUBE will probably wreck the injection pump. Add in part in 20 of good engine oil and the kero will be fine , but the smell of the exhaust is a dead give-away!
