Hi, I have a 110, i want to change the driver & passenger seats, ( no middle seat )and i want to replace the three rear seats with more modern comfortable seats. My question is, has anyone fitted alternative seating from another vehicle into their landrover?. I know that you can get proper seats from Exmoor Trim but i ain`t that flush as i`m on a budget!!
SHE WHO HOLDS THE PURSE STRINGS MUST BE OBEYED.
Any ideas more than welcome,
If anyone has fitted alternative seats, a couple of pics and some info would be great.
Cheers.

I'm about to do this to my 110. As I design stuff for a dayjob, I've been looking at the problems.

Front seats.

1. In order to get three abreast seating, the outer seats are wedged into the doors. Silly. Move them inboard two inches and suddenly you have elbow room. Meaning that you now realise that you'd like a proper armrest and that you haven't leant on the bliddy door lock again. They don't go far enough back for me (6'3"), so my seat will also be going back an inch or two. Which reduces rear leg room even more.

2. Under seat storage/battery access. Quite important to me. So the removable seat base is a handy feature. Fitting any other seat will require some very long runners or a tip mechanism. You can buy ball bearing drawer slides which will easily support 100Kg and give 600mm travel, but I think that a refurb of the original front seats is the way to go.

In the back. Well yes. The three are 'efficient', but vv uncomfortable. So they're going into the far back instead of the two inward facing benches. They'll be replaced by two front seats from my local scrappy. I have a 16 yo daughter and a 11 yo son. They're going to choose exactly which seat feels most comfortable to them, and that's what they'll get. She says the leathers from my Alfa 156, he says the ornerys from my Citroen ZX. Who Knows?

if you look at a previous thread on this subject that i did you will see that i fitted some rover coupe leather recaros to the front of my landy 90 and kept the cubby box..the driving position is now fully adjustable up and down,as well as more movement backwards.totally transformed the driving experience of my landy and well comfy.i posted some pics on the thread aswell, took me a couple of hours and just made up 2 new rear brackets best mod ever..if you cant find the thread give me your email address and ill send you some pics..rich

I've just changed my seats in the 90 for alfa romeo seats. I got a pair of green cloth ones that match the Landy ncely for ££0 from the local scrappy

There's just a peg on one of the sliders that needs removing, easy done
The few minor problems that I found were; the Alfa runners aren't long enough to reach both of the strong mounting points in the Landy, and the drivers seat needed lifting slightly to give room for the "jack up/down mechaniszm" to clear
This was easily cured by incorporating a couple of pieces of 20mm square box section, under the runners.
I used new Allen bolts the correct length to secure the seats through the box section, into "captive" nuts (used some of the ones the Landy seats used, and made a few more)
One other problem was the sliding covers needed trimming down slightly.
The lever on the side of the seat for lifting /lowering had a plastic handle, but it came hard against the door, so I've removed it, I'll get around to fitting something over the metal bit sooner or later.
