Anyone recommend a welder in the Basingstoke/Reading area?

Hello.

My 1988 Ninety has just failed it's MOT :(

Both footwells need attention, as does the rear cross member. I've done a little bit of welding, but this is beyond me to be honest. I'm more than happy to do all the preperation work.

So, can anyone recommend a (preferably cheap!) Landy-sympathetic place to get it sorted?

Thanks in advance,
Ian.

Try Challenger 4x4 nr Aldershot. They work predominantly on Defender/Series and do plenty of fabrication.

Did ya get this sorted?
After talking to a few people and generally feeling sorry for myself (and the Landy) for a day or two, I've decided I'm going to have a go myself. I figure if I'm going to try and keep a 20+ year old vehicle on the road, I'm either going to constantly be shelling out money for someone else to fix it - or I need to learn to do more myself. I've got myself a MIG welder, so I'm going to do some practising and then give it a go. It's a good few years since I last did any welding, but I have a rough idea of what to do.

If it all goes tits up, I may still be taking folks up on their offers of help!

The course doesn't start until September, but I am going to book myself on it - I replaced both footwells and patched up the rear crossmember myself and the results weren't pretty! However the main thing is.... the Landy passed it's MOT :)
