Hey all, my father in law has purchased a RR from a local car dealer who has sold him a lemon. His EAS is inactive and will not adjust (strangely the car drives fine at all speeds), the servotronic steering adjustments are all inoperable, the memory module for the seat does nothing and all in dash/clock lcds are ******, so he cannot see what has failed. The garage is not very helpful and seems to think its not his problem.
Anyone in the Cardiff/Bridgend area who could help with a scan and reset. The car is in Maesteg at the moment.
Cheers

I know but he is 76y.o. and just likes the car. Admittedly he got it for a reasonable price (£9k) but if it's not just resets to be done to reactivate things, then at least he has a list of the parts which have failed and a list inc prices to take to citizens advice/trading standards.

9K !! indeed you will have a guarantee from the dealers, take the bugger back.

was it playing up when u test drove it ?

however if your in essex i do have an all comms :) lol

My 03 is fine (for the moment after I had swapped out the drivers door latch) My father in law bought the one in question, and at 75 years old, he's not such a natural on the internet. If I can get it scanned and have some sort of idea of his troubles then he has something to take to the garage as the guy has had it in cardiff for 2 days and all he has achieved is to fix the side lights. How the f*** can a garage provide a car with a new mot with no sidelights? Says it all really.
I am an electrician and now have a copy of Rave so I'm sure I could have sorted the lights in about 10 mins but he didn't want any interference until the garage had taken a look.

hehe

well i would still take it back and demand it gets fixed.

and if you own a range rover i would buy an all comms or similar diagnostics tool as they are a must have unless you want to pay out to a garage.

im a sparks too by trade and it does come in quite handy when fixing electrical sniggles on the l322's :)

Already mailed Storey, gonna sort one out soon. I work offshore on the Rigs. Have my own limited company but have not been able to work for the last 6 weeks so need to get back in before I start spending any more money. lol. Got the wife a JCW Cooper Works last year and just got the Rangie so I am f****** skint now. lol.

lol

word of warning with the all comms though,

there doesnt seem to have been any updates with his softwere lately, not sure if he has given up on the project, so you might be better off with another type of unit. :D

Not too concerned with the lack of updates TBH as if it cures an EAS fault and can reset your general dash lights then it will be enough, and 3 scans and it has paid for itself.

DATATEK, you are right my friend BUT it's not my car. If it was mine I would either have knocked the guy out by now or just made things so difficult for the guy he would have done it just to get rid of me.:D
My MIL wanted to go down and superglue every door lock on the cars on the lot:boxing:

My m8 has scanned the car with his Snapon scanner and whilst it doesn't find much to scan, it did have a fault code on the suspension of 50 Can bus fault.

Not much to go on but any ideas? BCM, ECU?

CAN BUS fault is a common fault, can mean many things or nothing,
have you looked at the RSW site for info on faults?

In the meantime, I have spoken to Citizens Advice Consumer Service on behalf of my FIL to find out where the land lies with buying from a forecourt. The following advice was put forward and put in a recorded letter to the garage.

I have been asked to make clear to you, your responsibilities in relation to selling a vehicle under the sale of goods act 1979 whereby the vehicle purchased must be of satisfactory quality and free from defects and fit for purpose. This also means that unless the vehicle is not repaired with working items, like for like, within a specified time, then I am entitled to a refund.
This vehicle is none of the above.

I then made a brief outline of the faults he wanted rectified and rounded off the letter with the following.
I have sent this letter by recorded delivery and kept a copy for myself as advised by Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline and I am making time of the essences an seeking the issue resolved within 14 days.

If anyone has any issue purchasing from a garage forecourt with the trader selling them a pup then the advice above is legal and will be taken up by trading standards if the work is not resolved.

I have not named any business in here so it would be appreciated if the moderators could leave this in here for the benefit of anyone having similar trouble.

sounds like the pump has failed, very common fault on the l322 ... on ebay there is a second hand hawkeye, been relisted this week, didnt get a bid on last time, so for 200 quid and it comes with the adapter for the air suzzy.

Maybe the pump I agree, BUT the rear wiper is out, the servotronic adjustments on the steering dont work and the memory for the seat (ied into the steering I think) doesn't work so may be BCM related too.
