Check the chassis and bulkhead for metal worm. The rest can be dealt with using a hammer, a shifter and a screwdriver!
If it starts, that's good. If it runs that's even better. If it's got a tankfull of fuel, that's a bonus!
1/. Little puff of smoke from the exhaust on startup which should disappear after a few seconds
2/. Check the steering links and rods
3/. Check the oil for emulsion
4/. Check the water for discolouration
5/. Check for play on the prop shafts
6/. Check for a gearbox knock when setting off and changing gear
7/. Check for fuel leaks
8/. Check for oil leaks
9/. Check you bank balance
I can't count up to 10 as I don't have a GCSE in maths!
