reduced the sump gasket leak down to a few drops but then last trip EP80 spouting out of top of overdrive breather, only checked levels 100mile earlier! transfer box level low.

so was wondering if anyone really has a series that dont drip oil

erm, I do.

It's my daily drive, has oil checked everywhere at least once a month, but doesnt drip or leak. No filling up necessary, just the regular check and change.

The engine needs a litre per 100mi tho, but is now being swapped for a 200di

I'm working around all the seals in the hope I can get mine a bit more continent but there's oil coming out of various orifices on the engine that will probably need a rebuild to sort.

thats impressive was it always dry or did you manage to seal it, the oil use seems a bit high hopefully 200tdi less thirsty

on the sump i used a LR original cost about £15 with RTV sealant , im hoping a 2nd nip of the bolts might do it

It's a feture of the series
It's known as the constant oil change
If it keeps leaking out and you keep roping it your means the oil is always new

Yes, that's why I was shocked to see what gunky mess came out of my rear diff. Could have put it on the wall and it would have stayed there

The owner before me who bought it 1998 said it stopped dripping at some time, but since I have it (March) she only dripped about 5 drops and that was after the Calais-Frankfurt run, so when GB got really warm (only dropped a bit out of GB)

But otherwise, just fresh EP90 everywhere, and 20W50 in the engine...

I've owned my 109 for 6 months, and it hasn't left it's mark on the driveway yet. The fella i bought it from is a mechanic, and he gave me his word that the diff's/gearbox/transferbox/sump are as tight as a nuns knickers.
I've done a few hundred miles in the old girl, and she seems as sweet as a nut.
Happy days.

Hmmm, I got some leaks going on.. got to top the engine, gearbox and overdrive fairly regularly. the rear axle is great since the change though, put a new cork gasket on, not too tight mind...
