Anyone have a New Defender?

I bought one - it’s a great vehicle. Only 3,000 miles so far but it’s not given me any grief. Exceptional on the road as you would expect, and it’s towing ability is top drawer. I’ve not had a chance to do much off road with it yet due to the lockdown but from what I have done (mainly forest tracks and snow) I think it will do 95% of what the old one did and with a lot more ease. I still have my old 90 for the other 5% or for those days where I miss the ‘manual driving experience’ that we all know and love.
Which engine do you have? Did you add the offroad packs?

The D200 six-cylinder. Really impressive torque. Despite being the lowest powered in the range it’s really effortless, even with a heavy trailer. The D250 and D300 must be something else, but apparently the three straight six diesel engines are all the same and it’s just different maps so there are companies already that can take your D200 and turn it into a D250 or D300 for a couple of hundred quid, assuming you’re not bothered about warranty.

I specified the rear locking diff and the off road tyres (which are just mild ATs really but better than road pattern). Didn’t need any of the other stuff in the packs so avoided that and just chose a few options on top of base spec to keep the price down.

l've had a 90 D250 Commercial on order since February 2022, delivery sometime in 2023

It's fabulous to drive, expensive but residuals are so good that with reasonable deposit the payments are only £300 per month

As for options, there's not much l felt l needed to add.
Tow bar
Front fog lamps
Centre console
Heat reflective windscreen

Land Rover have deleted the D200 from the configurator so you can only order the D250, for an extra £3,000

l guess it's a nice little earner for them, and with the waiting list currently at around 2 years for some versions they will sell all they can produce.
The dealer admitted it costs "no more" to make the D250 engine over the D200

lt means the cheapest new Defender you can buy is the 90 D250 Commercial at £47,000
