My new pair of QT diff guards arrived today from MM 4x4, rear one went on dead easy, 5 minute job. The front however was a different story, dropped one side of the tracking bar off, got the guard into place etc but the top plate doesnt seem long enough, its short bu about 10mm. Has anyone else had problems? Had a look and looks like the diff pan has been replaced at some point, could this be the problem? cheers

Hello – I had exactly the same problem. I purchased mine from Bearmach in Abergavenny and spent ages trying to fit the thing using loads of different permutations, but as you say the reach is too short by 15mm (about the same dimensions you mention). My 90 is a standard CSW (2005) but apart from wax oiling build up on the axle the front axle and dif are standard. To be honest the guys in Abergavenny were very good and just took it back, got the feeling it was not the QT first one they had had returned... So far I have not had any joy in finding a plate type guard for the front dif – let me know if you have any luck after you send this back to MM 4x4.

Hmmm, sounds like QT have got the reputation of making 'some of the best kit out there' but make s**t, i may as well have bought a £20 diff guard haha. Im going to have another go trying different combo's like you mentioned but i am sure its not going to go on. Might have a bracket made up that will do the job. Do you want me to get you a price?

i have the £20 paddocks special om my series 3 and have had no problems with them, i keep having to pressure wash inside them after going off road as they will up with mud and stones (i found a fookin great bit of flint in the front one last time i hate to think what would have happened if the guard had not been there!)

I know what you mean G-Man, dont wanna risk doing any serious playing until iv got one on the front. Iv got a qt on the back now and had my heart set on the fron aswel, plus im lazy and wouldnt pressure wash inside em....anotha QT bonus

if you don't wash the insides out mud will build up behind them(even the bikini ones) and rot its way through your diff pan then all your oil will leak out and you will have to weld a new one on! i put the front one on first as it is the most likely to get hit unless you do more reversing/getting recovered backwards lol

yeah just fancied making life easier for myself, and they do look cooler, which helps! Well i bought em as a pair like i said and the back one went on a dream, but the front is a bi**h

Here is a couple of pictures of a full width one I made myself.

well for those of you out there who have had qt problems, finally got my front one on, had my local machine shop weld on a small bracket to extend the original top bracket by 15mm, QT....best on the market??!!

Did you get a response from QT? As I said I took mine back for a refund with no porblems but would be nice if the kit they made fitted the axle it was designed for.

Yeah i tried the ole jack, pry bar and a mallet and it was still too tight a fit. Spoke to a guy at MM 4x4 who i had them off, he was really good and spoke to QT; apparently they are in the process of making one to fit a TD5 axle which has a longer top bracket and could be used on axles which are a tight fit. But at the moment all they could off was a refund, and i wasnt gonna have a flash QT on the back and a different one on the front now was i :D. Does anyone know if the TD5 axle differs greatly out of interest?
