must admit prefer Ceuta - hate water and its a shorter crossing - and often cheaper - my 110 is only 15 and has an indescribable number of miles on it - parked up inside between trips scared of adding miles to it in case of the inevitable

I crossed from Gibraltar, as at the time Spain and Morrocco were having a bit of a disagreement and crossing from Spain was a nightmare. I don't think you can cross from Gib anymore. It was when Gib still got water shipped in from Morrocco.

Has the Carnet de Passage/import/export problem with Egypt gone away??? Ferry cancellation is not permanent apparently, just a Trans-Med ferry refit. If it helps I did that west route to Dakar late last year and had no trouble bar running out of Marlboro red "negotiation" currency, and that was in a P38!

No you still have to stump 800% or some bond payable to the customs. Easier with a carnet if you can afford it.

The Ferry is cancelled. End of. No refit, no suspension. Plain cancelled. I've asked them about 6 times now along with Emails from me and a couple of others doing the same trip. Its cancelled indefinitely. Thats why i'm going via Syria, Jordan and the red sea. Visa's in my passport for Syria and arrived last week. Leaving in a month.
