I am going to southern morocco again towards end of this year for about 3 weeks. I would like to go with one or two other Defenders. I am keen on wild camping only and being off tarmac as much as possible. Anyone interested.

id be VERY interested, im 21 and have never been on an expedition before. Have you been before? what preparation is needed? Is a 300tdi 90 a suitable vehicle? regards oliverleney

mmmmmmmmmmm intresting as me and the wife are look at this time of year for our honeymoon, we want to go over christmas and new year for around 3 weeks.

not sure what its like in the winter months though.

We might be on our way south sometime around october but this may also slip. We are not coming back mind but would do the trip south to Morocco. Been before so i know the score. Keep me updated on plans.

If they'd not cancelled the Ferry to Egypt we'd be going he other way.

Hi, This is something i've wanted to do for a longtime! I've been to Morrocco before, Tangiers, Tetouan etc.
Only one problem.... I've moved to the darkside:alien:. got a Pajero.....So anybody up for a Pajero tagging a long?? Obviously a lot of things to think about, Work, school and not least money!!

At the moment Oct Nov Dec Jan sounds good if you want to tag along (or us tagging along with others). Plans are currently this side (west) but we are also toying with South America. Considering we are off permanently we're running out of time so we might very well slip into Nov or Dec or later. If you want to PM me with your plans we are happy to couple up on the way. More the merrier in my mind. Getting dates to fit is the issue. We won't have a house soon !

Hi. big jon. get a landrover and your welcome. doubt a p-- would cope and commonality of spares is helpful as we go well remote
Hi tweetyduck, plan to take ferry to morocco end of january - if interested will send private message with our route in western sahara

So you are going down into Western Sahara? If we go west side we're continuing onwards so will be going that way also. We are still planning for October as i said but things are slipping. I still have furniture to sell !

Matter of opinion, they are both capable vehicles! Plus it would give you a chance to get pics of a Pajero being rescued by a Landy!! The main problem with the Pajero would be fuel consumption. It rarely goes above 20 MPG except on a decent motorway run at 75-80 I'll get nearly 30 Mpg.
To be honest if I could afford a decent Landy then I would buy one. The Spares is the main issue that would concern me, I'll have good look at that. I could tempt fate and say it won't break but we all know anything can break! So far though in 2 years not had a problem. So I suppose that offsets the cost of Fuel a bit. Certainly compared to the repair costs of my old Disco. Although to be honest even though the Pajero drives better, the Disco had far more character!
Anyway at the moment i'm still toying with the idea got to convince my wife it's a good idea!
Good luck, take Care
Jon

You don't go to Tangiers now. Just go to Tangiers MED and wiz off down the toll road. I say wiz off meaning drive as fast as a 206000mile 17 year old defender will...... about 55-60mph and get a 28mpg run easily with fuel at less than 60p per litre.

I used a fuse on my last trip, 500ml of EP and half a grease cart. I used all my nerves on the Cirque Jaffa though.

must admit prefer Ceuta - hate water and its a shorter crossing - and often cheaper - my 110 is only 15 and has an indescribable number of miles on it - parked up inside between trips scared of adding miles to it in case of the inevitable
