Anyone fancy a holiday in the Highlands this summer?

[Is there such a thing as summer in the Highlands?]

I've just got a three month job just west of Aberdeen and have got the option of getting a room in a shared house or a two bed cottage.

I won't be able to afford the rent of the cottage on my own (I'm a poorly paid gardener) so was thinking of renting out the spare room to folk who might fancy a trip up north.

If I get enough interest by the weekend I'll take my Disco (300TDi, pretty standard) up there and so it could be available for use if people fly up. I would ask for a contribution for my expenses getting the thing up there and you would need to be covered by your own insurance. Maybe £100 / week.

I'm thinking I'll need £2-300 per week for a double room, BnB. I'll have a couple of mountain bikes that can be used and will be happy to lead walks up the hills at weekends.

It would be in Banchory which is 'tween Aberdeen and the Highlands.

Thoughts anyone...?

i'd be inclined to buy a 100 quid caravan and leave it on a site for the duration - least that way you might come home with some money in your pocket rather than spending most of it on rent or BnB

Maybe, but unfortunately I'm not a pikey  and I like my creature comforts, like a flushing bog and a shower, hence thinking I'll rent a cottage.

Thanks for your input though!

I hate sleeping in caravans. Always wake up with a bad back because the beds are so uncomfortable
