Don't ask why I'm not sayin, but has anyone ever fitted drum brakes i.e backplate, hubs drums etc onto a rangie front axle?

series one, no servo no where to put servo no intention on fitting a servo wish to keep drum brakes. Comp motor only not for road use. Rangie front axle would be a benifit with the steering lock etc once sprIng mounts are fabricated. Again so its not such a stupid idea Anyone done it?

If it's for nonroad use only then anything is possible, would probably depend on whether half-shafts and cv joints would fit. Spring mounts would be easy to do.

Why do you need a vacuum servo for disks? Whilst the mechanical "self servo" action of twin leading shoe drums sounds good in a text book, in practice those old front drum brakes hark back to the dark ages, always going out of adjustment and don't work well when wet.

On the old escorts and moggy minors etc front brake disks were a really good upgrade and you never needed to fit a servo.

Well I have driven a motor without servo assist and the brakes were rubbish. Drum brakes will do just fine for what I require. Will look into it next week cant be that hard to convert
