Hi all,

I have a clutch job looming on our 02 Td4 S, and so have ordered disk, plate and slave from Island 4x4. The only thing that worries me is that the (supposedly) AP genuine slave came in a britpart box and does not have AP written on it anywhere. Has anyone else had this? Island is shut now so I can't phone them.

Also, the slave doesn't appear to have any fluid in it - is it only the master that comes ready-filled?

Cheers

It is an AP in the Brit part box BUT don't use it! The one I had was contaminated and caused no end of problems. I wish I had just used a Brit part one as at least it would have been produced more recently. Both the slave and master should be pre filled.

Oh sh1t! Too late - it's in. What exactly happened with your one?

It was outwardly fine but the fluid within had gone off or become contaminated and was full of white 'stuff'. I had no pedal when it was all fitted back together and I had to bleed many times to get back to a good pedal. It's fully possible it was just the one I had but I wouldn't use one again. If I was you I would return the AP one and get an LUK slave and master

I saw the same white stuff inside the master when I took it apart and reconned it. I think it's silicone grease.

I bled the whole lot through with new fluid anyway and it seems to work. I guess you just had bad luck there.
Cheers
