Put a picnic hamper on the roof so you have something to nibble while waiting for recovery.
A camping chair and fishing rod will help to pass the time in comfort.

On fords that have been verified as safe to cross, proceed with caution. Don't hold your breath. After all, you're driving a car. That would be silly.
