Any recommendations on mods I should do to my hippo?

It totally depends on what you want to do with it.

If your just using it as a daily driver, nothing major, BMW crankcase breather, full service, maybe remove the prop.

If your intending to use it as an off roader, lift kit, AT/MT tyres, sump guard, diff guard, VCU guard, exhaust guard, and the service and crankcase breather, full service.

Cheeky git! Haha!

Hey I have had a disco, range rover classic etc before and great motors however they have just as many potential problems including the dreaded rust!

At least my freelander is rust free, land rovers in general are pretty unreliable machines in comparison to ordinary cars, if I wanted an easy life I would have bought a normal car as much easier to deal with lol!

Driving a landy is much more fun though apart from my m3 which was on another level altogether! ;)

My next landy will be a defender or disco 3 though, yhe freelander just now will do nicely as cheap to run insure and my mate is a landy specialist so can rely on him helping me out if stuff goes wrong.

Sounds like you have a good plan on the go there. You never see a rusty Fleabag - there must be hundreds of them, not rusting away in scrapyards.:D

Strange the Freelander don't rust init!! The Freelander mechanical parts my give the occasional problem but at least we don't have to weld the chassis every other weekend!!

The God's of motoring decreed a curse on Tratter Boys that their nemesis should be the Freelander and that they should never rust and thus would be forever!!!

Alternatively, LR must have got their pre paint rust treatment act together - for a change:D

Haha! It is true though, I was always having to keep an eye on rust on my disco and range rover classic. Could never understand why land rover allowed it to happen yet old shogun' s or pajeros never rusted at all.
Land Rovers from the disco 2 onwards seem to hold up well these days as do range rover's but rangies still have a terrible rep for reliability.
