Last time I went was during the troubles (1970's) and I was nervous to say the least:)

None, I travel regularly from Scotland to Donegal and never had a problem.
Last time I was there was stopped by the Gardi at a routine road block, asked for my licence, which i had forgot, no big deal and sent on my way.

If you use common sense travelling through the like of Belfast and the North and avoid known hot spots you'll be fine.

Stuck with Belfast unfortunately, getting off the boat there, the google maps send me 20 miles out of my way to avoid Armagh what could be the reason for this?
Going to either Monaghan or Emyvale depending on where funeral service is being held, I went on my pushbike 51 years ago and went through Armargh as it was quickest way from Belfast:)

When I said Belfast I meant not veering off the motorways into built up council areas.
I'm sure stenna have moved from the city centre and when you leave the dock you're straight onto the motorway.
I usually go into Marne as the ferry leaves from Troon during the summer months and saves a drive to Stranraer

Think they not only have an M1 but an M2 as well.
Diesel is cheaper in the south but don't get it too close to the border as it seems to go up in price.
Mind and drive on the same side of the road when you cross the border:p

Although I had no problems with parking overnight in rural areas (which is most of NI), what is Belfast like for landy thefts? My daughter lives in Belfast and is buying a house with her partner in the East of the city and I'd like to take my landy over to transport stuff for her new house. I can't remember the exact area, but there are no flags on any nearby houses.

No problem at all, been over a few times with work and never had any issue, worked all over the north and in Belfast, people are nice and helpful to. Only left early to go back to the boat the last time I was there as there was a planned march on and didn't want to get stuck in it for missing the boat.

Well, my aunt died last week and was buried Wednesday, then on Thursday my uncles wife died so we are going over to Ireland tomorrow for funeral on Sunday.
Sister wont travel the 200 miles to Stranrear in the landy so we are goin in her Skoda:rolleyes:
Didn't fancy eight hour night ferry from Liverpool so going via Larne

Should be a good doo;):)
