help me please!
my p38 decided to keep the right indicator on after turning right. the stalk works, when indicating left, both indicators are on. when the stalk is centralized the right stays on,permenantly.
i was advised it was the becm. i sent it to callrova for diagnostics and repair. got it back and its still the same!
i've got an auto electrician checking it today, but if that fails....
if there is a p38 electronics wizard on here, who knows exactly what they're doing i will cover petrol costs and pay them,(if the problem is sorted out.)
thanks

i've actually got his number. he only lives 1 mile from me. he came round and diagnosed my eas problem about 18mths ago.
i've just texted him.
if i'm going to keep this car is it worth buying this faultmate software, and how good and user friendly is it?
how much is it?
will it pinpoint the fault in the indicators?

First thing to remember with any P38 faults is to get the RAVE Electrical Manual which is free on the forum to download if you do a search. Secondly, different from other cars is that all switches work on the negative side.
If you have a negative output when a switch is operated and that signal reaches the relevant pin on the Becm connector then it should switch the output from the Becm to the lamp or circuit on..which is usually a positive voltage.
Confusing, I can appreciate to those that are experienced in conventional car electrics which use positive signals to energise relays etc. or even are wired directly to the component.
Basically therefore, if the input signal is reaching the Becm and the relevant fuse is not blown...if the output is not being sent from the Becm, then the fault lies within the Becm and not the input or the component.
A couple of years ago, I offered to give a course over here in Ireland which covered apart from other things :smokin::smokin::beer2::beer2::5bparty: simple starightforward electrical fault finding and diagnostics using BBS (Rovacomlite/Faultmate) equipment in a "Hands On" environment. Had many possibles but no definates.

Hi Dibbles...purchasing the Becm module (SM022) from BBS will allow many diagnostic checks, in your case, you could check input status from say the indicator switch. You also have the capability to remotely "Force" outputs using the software, e.g. turn L.H. indicator on, this would verify that the output from the Becm and subsequent operation of the indicators is correct within the the Becm. There are many more options which would take too long to list on here. Go to BBS website and check the information write up on SM022.

As a matter of interest and fact, I am in no way connected with BBS or receive any payment from them. I have their equipment and find it to be second to none. (Don't even get a Xmas card from BBS guy...tight git !!!!)

So the tanker that comes once a month to fill your swimming pool in Malaga with Guinness, and has BBS Cyprus written on the side is just coincidental then.:D:D:D:D

Nah..the tanker keeps the 4.6 going for a couple of weeks on petrol (None of that LPG ****e) !!.
With abit of luck (and imagination) BBS guy will come over to Crete this September in his private jet, take me and Er Indoors out for a meal and a night on the pi*s then conveniently jet back to his hideaway in Nicosia just before the bill arrives !!
Typical Shropshire lad.

i got my auto electrician friend round. he was here 15mins,and he had diagnosed the problem.
faulty indicator stalk.
i put a new one on. sorted!

As per my previous post....check the inputs (Switches, Sensors ets.) with a multimeter first to see if they are reaching the Becm as they should.
Bit late now, but it's basic stuff rather than jumping at the conclusion that the Becm is knackered. That said, one of the first signs of Becm failure is phantom indicator faults and rear wash wipe failure. BE METHODICAL and follow the wiring diagrams.

Pleased you are sorted anyway Dibbles !!!
