Ive got one of those inside the glass antenna, keeps it out of harms way, as said the CB antenna thingys are not that good, the aerials the wrong length, it will work, but not efficiantly, and you get some loss form the splitter

I used a step drill to drill a hole in the centre front of my roof (the sloping part) actually it was just off centre to avoid the central roof brace.

To be honest if you are fitting a new radio with pll tuning anything will do. If you already have the military whip on the wing then that will do just fine. Just wire it back with 50-100ohm coax(best is rg58) and stick a plug on the end.

Ive got loads of coax if you need some. Or even when you come down ill give you a load incase.

Thanks mate will do,

I'm going to try the military one then if not the CB one then if that don't work I'll get something to match the CB one and stick it on the roof rack.

Hope to see you soon:)

RG58 is ONLY 50 ohm!

Use the correct impedance for your radio.

Yes and 99.9% of radios I have worked on use 50ohm. Now since there is no transmission the cable imprudence won't play a big part. If I'm sticking in an aerial on a long run I will use 100ohm low loss sat cable.

How many ohms is a coat hanger then:confused: cause they works better than some expensive ariels

Its not running near the transmission so you are right about the imprudence and I wont use it on a long run, probably play tapes:p

Thought a picture of my wireless might help, as you can see it doesn't need an FM aerial as I cant receive the signals, I do have a decent weather forecast on tape so as I can play it when its raining to cheer myself up:)

Its a 'Sharp' wireless if that's any help and has three wires coming out of the back (it's got stereo you see) one live and two speaker wires although I only have the one speaker.

That belongs in a museum

By transmission I mean radio transmission\TX this is where impedance comes in to play with your SWR. Really for car aerials an piece of metal that's not grounded to the chassis will work.
