Any interest in cages, custome exhausts, bull bars and so on?

Just throwing this out there really...we have recently got a pipe bender again and wondering if there would be an interest in us making such things as bull bars, tubular bumpers, cages, snorkels, custom exhausts (for instance those that have engine transplants and need something made up, or those changing to side exits and so on) etc.

Or do people generally on here make their own stuff and me posting this on here a wasted suggestion?

oh poo I spelt custom weird in the title...oh well.

Fick fooker :D yer ole biziness has just gone down the ****ter cos ya cuunt even get the fred title rite..

LOL, cheers. Hardly a business though...just thought the odd person here and there might want something bending up if they can't do it themselves.

i tend t mek mi own stuff, but wen it comes t bendin pipe am fooked.i usualy use bits of pipe av got lyin about or steel flexi.

Yup that's what we have done up until now. It made sense for us to get the bender because we have potentially 5 exhausts to make up for our own cars, a wheel carrier for the RRC and some other bits and bobs. Easily makes it cost in those things alone. Welding and making brackets etc is not a problem so the pipe bender opens up the things we can do a fair bit which is cool.

Fink side exits would be a goer as no one seems to do them off the shelf.

The handy thing is that exhaust components are readily availble and quite cheap so won't cost much to make a system up.

Always handy to have a bender in ya workshop.. But I wouldn't advise doing rollcages. Tubing and piping aren't the same and you really need a mandrel bender for rollcage tubing. But it'll be ok for Tubular A Frames, Bumpers & Eggsauces good luck with it anyway..

nobody ever thought having tweets in your workshop would be handy

i reckon you could make some dosh if you produced a complete end to end metal snork for dependers and series - bit of 3mm flat plate to replace the standard air intake - a couple of inches of 3-4 inch pipe on the inside (to clamp the air intake hose to) - externally, the same 3-4'' pipe running all the way to the air intake

buckshot has one on his silver depender, looks excellent and will never break

if peeps are prepared to pay well over a 100 for a good name plastic snork that will break eventually am sure they'd pay the same for a metal version that'd last a lifetime

even just producing the meter ish long tube that runs along the wing and up the screen might be a start - think that's just a 26 degree bend - like the one ere that southdown do for nearly 40 quid !

I'd be interested in a wheel carrier maybe.....and a bumper....and an A-bar......and a roll cage.

Depends how much they would be for, and how safe the last one would be!

Thanks for the response, it looks like there is some interest in fabricating stuff.

Most of the stuff is easy to make. I guess the main problem encountered is that each Land Rover has slightly different dimensions. Need to take that into account when making stuff.

As I said, will make up a wheel carrier, the 5 or so exhausts, roll bar and other bits and bobs for our own vehicles so then I will have a better idea of what costings will be. Then I will contact suppliers and soo if I can get discounts on things like exhaust section, snorkel tops and such like to make it more feasable. Will post back here once I have a clearer picture, but at least I now though there would probably be a demand for it :)
