Ive wired up 2 x volt gauges, one for each batt, on turning the ignition on, nothing, they light up fine when the sidelights are activated but no readings, they are wired through 2 relays so they are only on when the ignition gets a feed.

They are wired through the relays as below;

87: feed from batt through 5amp fuse
86: earth
85: ignition feed (from white and orange cable into rear of stereo)
30: live feed to gauge

I'm wondering if the stereo feed is the best feed to use?

Both gauges were tested off batt through a fuse and worked fine.

Any ideas what might be doing my head in before I full all the cable out and start again?

Isn't 30 and 87 the wrong way round?

edit:

30 should be fused to the + 12V on the battery, 87 to the volt meter and the other side of the volt meter to earth.

100% stolen from some website, but should help. Just put the volt meter where the HHO Cell is in the diagram.

Starting on ignition rather than radio makes no difference.

To be honest, it was the connection into the ignition feed, I used a tap connector (not a fan of them but didnt want to cut into the stereo loom), so took it off, cut the feed and used terminal connectors, turned the key and bingo! Checked the relays and they are wired in as per the diagram on the top of them.
