Any ideas please on a v6

Hi all

i need help again please,

my mate has a freelander 1 v6 (think its 2002) and its auto

he has asked me to have a look at it for him as it will not start ,

he says it had a flat bat so he bought a new bat ,installed it and car started ,he drove it around 3 miles then turned her off

since that the car has never started again !!!! he has nothing no clicks etc

is there any common faults to look for on this model? is this a common fault?

any ideas would be brill ,as when i look at it if i have some ideas what it could be it will be better for me


im thinking first look at maybe startermotor, egn barrel, maybe because its a auto does it have a massive earth that may be loose etc ?

ps i have never looked under a v6 bonnet so have no idea right now

What does the gear led display show both by the gear lever and on the dash?

Battery connection tight?

have you checked the leads on the starter motor.

As above. If all the ignition lights come on as normal along with all the other electrics. That kind of discounts the battery.
The small spade connection on the starter more is the most likely cause.

thanks for replies, i have not looked at the car yet but will check all those things ,if it turns out to be one of the above i will let you know and if not i will be asking more questions once ive had a look
