The farm at the end of my road uses CB on their tractors, they don’t have it on often but occasionally I can pick them up.

LOL "cobra 1348GTLDX" that takes me back, my first rig! or was it a Superstar360, still cant tell the difference!
And a Thunderpole ..... the 'rocket ship' of cb antenna's!!
I had a Sigma 4 for about a month until the neighbours complained,
had to go back to my crappy modulator homebase.I remember my little cousin freaking out cos he thought I was picking up a 'rebel' transmission from space like in star-wars, he was heart broken when I explained SSB and bleed over!
PS IMO the Maxcom 4E coupled with a DV27 twig is............ the LR defender of the CB world

go find a busy motor way, normally get some trucks moaning about police or traffic etc!
Its hard to imagine but in 1982 all channels were totally jam packed!!!

Pl plug at twig is rotten.
Gona get it grafting, might be the odd lady on the rig like the old days and get an "eyeball" 10 10

Update for reference. SWR check was off the scale. Checked earthing and continuity of coax, this was fine. New antenna, now SWR reading of 1.1 channel 1. 1.0 channel 40, I think this is close enough now.

If it's anything like here in France, it's that no one is using it any more... In the 80's they reckon one in three car in France had a CB, but it's dead as a dodo now.
My car was fitted with one , as it used to belong to a Corsican guy who did guided trips of the island. I've not picked up a single transmission in the few times I've left it switched on.
A mate of mine is a truck driver had he tells me very few of them use the CB any more.
I only leave it there because it looks cool and otherwise I'd have a big hole in the dash.
