Been trying to find the correct coolant to put into my 300tdi. Some mechanics saying use pink “OAT” but others saying it will do in my head gasket over time and best to use blue or green one?

What do you guys use? And what mix? 50/50?

Cheers!

old blue glycol stuff
I would not use Oats in a tdi but know people that do
Old blue gear good for two years
Oats good for ten years

Mine had the red stuff when I bought it. I just did a vehicle look up on The comma site and still the red stuff. Been in 3 years now with no problem.
If you change the type you have to really flush out well as some can change to as thick gel when mixed which will bugger it up even quicker.....

When I had the P gasket, w pump and belts done, my mate put the pink stuff in. I got him to flush it and he refilled with blue glycol type before I took the car back.
It took him quite a while to get the oat stuff out.

Yea I’m going with the IAT blue stuff after researching it for a while. Seems the OAT stuff destroys the engine over time

OAT wont destroy an engine, its just some of the older gaskets and seals were not designed with OAT in mind so they then fail/leak.

Ebay Mannol AG11 neat blue stuff ie concetrated and not watered down

I read it will slowly corrode engine metal?

When I put a 3.5 V8 (ex1992 Disco1) into the 90 I used OAT. New rad and hoses and the engine flushed completely.
Been in there 3 years now without any apparent issues or leaks.
I did have to replace a core plug recently which had corroded through but I don't think the OAT did it.
From my readings gaskets and some rubber seals are most at risk and it will find any weak spots.
The biggest issue is mixing OAT with other antifreezes leading to a build up of a sludgy gel.
Time will tell.
