No you don't, easiest way to access them is put the front wheels on ramps and go underneath with a creeper, you'll be able to put your arms over top of the back of the subframe and change them there.
If you're getting the polybush bushes, you can split them to fit over the bar and then just slip the brackets back on over the top of them. A little wd40 or gt85 helps.

No problem Les.
You can see the bushes if you push your head up past your exhaust pipe, but it's an awkward position to lie with your head like that. It's easy enough to do blind, just feel for the bolts and place your socket where you feel them. Can't go wrong really.
They're either ten or twelve mm bolts, can't remember which though.

Personally i've got the orange poly bush ones from ebay. Cost me roughly £10 from an ebay shop called Flo-flex.
I can't imagine the originals being any cheaper than that so it's worth going for the poly bush ones as they'll last a hell of a lot longer.

Is that poly bushes from a particular company or all poly bushes in general?
My general thoughts were they were tougher than the standard rubber bushes and that's why the were used in competition, classic and other cars?

In general, i think. I have never had any probs with them, but others think they are crap.
I am sure others will tell you what they think

I did mine last week,I started by trying to fiddle about underneath,would have been a heart ache.I found it much easier to use two 9" a 4" and a 3" wobble head extension and loosened the bolts from above.
To refit the brackets you'll have to start the bolts from underneath,tighten from above,simplez.

I never thought of using lots of extensions on my socket driver :doh: that sounds a lot easier for undoing them and tightening them up again.

I bet that was a fugker of a job doing it any other way.I started from below but when I started wishing I had tiny hands I knew there must be a better way.
