Hi again, I've got oil leaking out of the dust cap on the hub. Me and a mate replaced the swivel a while back but I've since developed this leak. I noticed it a while back and got advice that the two big nuts needed tightening so I stripped it down and tightened them. All was well for a couple of weeks before I noticed oil leaking all over the alloy wheel again. I'm thinking along the lines of a seal needing replacing but which seal? And why did it start in the first place? It's the drivers side hub on a 300TDi Disco 1.
Thanks for reading.

hub seal will leak oil as it is grease seal (ftc475) there is seal in stub axle ftc5268 that keeps oil out of bearing hub,as there shouldnt be oil in there to leak out of hub seal

It's definitely oil, so it looks like I need stub axle seal ftc 5268. Is changing it something that is covered in the Haynes manual? And is there anything I should know before attempting it? Sorry for sounding so naive but as the wife uses the car for work when I'm away and it's our first Disco I don't want it off the road for more than a day. Thanks.

you need rtv silicone ,external circlip pliers,to remove circlip behind plastic cap 17mm socket to remove drive member ,13mm bihex socket but 1/2 inch better to remove caliper leave connected to pipe carefully tie just out the way ,remove wheel bearing nuts and hub remove stub axle

Excellent. Just ordered the bits that I didn't have so i'll crack on when they come and let you know how I get on. Thanks once again for all your help, it really is appreciated. I hope I can return the favour one day.
