Just bought my first Disco. It's a 2000 XS with ACE. I new there was a problem with the ACE when I bought it, but got it at a good price. The amber ACE light comes on, only when the engine is hot. No sign of it when it's cold. The person that I bought it off said that the vehicle had been to a main dealers for diagnosis but they were unable to find a problem. I phoned the dealers myself (Trinity Land Rover, Hinckley), who confirmed that the vehicle had been in and indeed they couldn't find anything wrong, even though the amber light is on. Surely a main dealer would be able to get a fault code with the light staring them in the face!!
Is it worth taking it to a different main dealer for another diagnosis, or is this likely to be a simple fault someone can put their finger straight on. I've had a look around the ACE components and cant see any leaks.
Thanks
Andrew

If no fault code shown even with the warning lamp on then it's not a management issue( in ACE operation the ACE ECU, SLABS ECU and ECM are all involved).....first of all replace the ACE filter on the bottom of the valve block then check the wiring/relay/fuse/contacts related within the engine compartment fuse box(see the diagram from RAVE)........i had something similar....no fault codes, amber light ...it was a bad contact there......bad contacts use to appear when things are getting hot.

Since you saved some cash, why not invest in a Hawkeye or Nanocom?

This will be able to read fault codes for you.

Now, I am not taking a cut but I did organise a group buy price on the Hawkeye. If you want details please PM me. Otherwise I won't say anymore on this on this thread.
