i have got a 110 with a 2.5td 19j engine which has always been a heavy breather i bought it with the rear crankshaft oil seal leaking!!
2 new seals later and its still leaks slightly!
I am just wondering if anyone could help or suggest anything what could cause this!
I am thinking it could be a piston ring cracked or possibly valve or head gasket problem!
I managed to do a compression test borrowed off work! 3 out 0f the 4 are running at about 385psi but the other is running at about 320psi which is within landrover tolerances but could this suggest any of the above items! or am i just worrying about nothing engine runs ok for landrover standards. any suggestions would be appreciated before i start ripping the engine appart for nothing and spending more money!!!!!! lol (landrovers)

I run a 110 with a 19J, it has close to 250,000 miles on it, leaks oil from every concievable place, smokes like a chimney on start up, allways starts and has never let me down. Since it came to live with me I have fitted a new turbo/alternator/waterpump/bottom pulley/injectors.

This is the engine everybody says is a pile of s***, LR should never have made it, I have no complaints.

If the oil leak isn't too bad live with it, but if it requires throwing money at it then do so if the rest of the engine is sound. They are well known to crack pistons and always breath badly. But they're very simple to work on, thats gotta be worth something these days.
