Evening folks,

Just a quick one, I have got annoying issue with my head lights being that they seem to condensate up alot recently and although it is not a major issue it just looks crap and spoils the look of the car.

Anyone else had this problem and is it easy to solve?

Needs new headlights from Land Rover!!

The covers at the rear of the lights are tricky to refit - they only go on correctly one way.

Lots of them are misfitted and so they can leak.

The solution is to run with no covers for a few days using the headlights as much as possible.

The heat of the lamps will dry out the condensation.

Take great care that the covers are re-fitted correctly with a smear of vaseline on the big rubber 'O'-Rings.

Good luck.

got to admit i found it alarming to look at .. in winter temps
when the condensation froze up ..
never had seen that before .. was like 'wtf' is happening !!!!!

google said it were a normal occurrence ( should i trust google ? :)

given that the hippo is nearly 7 yrs old .. and the headlight covers are clear
and there doesn't appear to be any crap inside .. have come to the conclusion
all is ok .. am not worried about it ..

then again .. maybe i'll give the seal some attention .. just to see if it can be prevented

I know its not a big deal really but seen a few hippos that dont seem to have this problem where as mine has started clouding up it must be something to do with the o rings.

.. i'm guilty of not paying the least bit of attention to other ppls. parked headlight lens/covers ..

mine get condensation/fog from lower edge to about 1" above ..
depends on the weather ..

thinking it just might help prolong lamp life ..
a bit of a heatsoak for them when they're first lit-up ..
a natural steam clean as well :) ..

first time i saw it in 'ice' form .. i thought the covers were broken / cracked ..
sort of had to do a quick "doh" reminder that they're plastic 'n not glass these days ..

Haha! I would not usually give a toss about other people's freelander lights just was strange as never used to condensate up its only been last 2-3 weeks.

Gotta say that the headlights on freelander are up there as one of the best I have used and thats saying something considering its my 39th motor! Lol

my first 'worry' re. the thread subject ..
was .. 'oh crap, the electrics will corrode'

so the headlamp electrics got the *dielectric-grease-anti-corrosion treatment ..
( as have all accessible engine electric connectors/plugs etc )

*'contralube' from maplin

~~~~~~~~~~
rekon i'll wait for a nice hot sunny Dry day to tackle the fog phenomenon ..
( i realise that could be a long long wait in this part of the world :)
