The general rule of thumb is that when it's riding on the doors or roof, you've gone too far.

Depends on the surface. The maximum side slope according to Land Rover, is 45 degrees. But on wetr, muddy surfaces, the Disco will start to slide sideways before you get that far. The problem with that is that if your tyres suddenly find grip, and stop sliding, or you slide into a rut, inertia can cause the vehicle to roll over. This can happen at relatively small angles of lean.

Theres actually a pretty decent app for Android (maybe iOS) which is an inclinometer works using a smart phones accelerometer. Nice and accuracte too, as long as you callibrate it properly on a flat service.
You can set the maxium roll and pitch and will sound an alarm if you reach it. Quite useful really.

Sorry but I dont know anything about that , my mobile is -Nokia 402- slightly smaller than a brick. But I do understand degrees angles etc.

Yes, I borrowed a friend's iphone the other day and he had the inclinometer app. A handy buzzer indicates that the vehicle has capsized. Talk about locking the stable door after the horse etc.

Inclinometers ain't no good for gauging the point of roll over as M1512 says they don't take into account inertia and sudden grip or that rabbit hole you are about to encounter. You can feel perfectly safe one moment and on your side a second latter it's all about ground appreciation, something you get with experiance.

If the vehicle is driven by a fat ****** it's more likely to roll than say someone of normal proportions. And, as a matter of interest why do Land Rovers attract fat ***** ?
