Hi i have an L322 Range Rover with analogue tv, is it possible to upgrade to digital to get freeview as is fitted on newer models. Can i just change the tuner box? and can anybody recommend a good freeview tuner.cheers

there are some, do a flee bay search for 12v digital tuner for cars, most are simply plug n play but you would need to check. i would assume a proper landrover one will be a bit pricey tho!

sorry for seeming a bit dumb but is the analogue built in to the screen or is it a case of just unplugging a module and plugging the freeview connector in,and can you use the touch screen controls on the tv screen.thanks G

You mentioned touch-screen. Is your L322 a 2005 with the fibre-optic MOST Denso system, rather than a '02-'04 with the BMW I-bus system?

hi thanks for your reply, i dont know what system it is but it has touch screen and is a 2006 /56 reg 3.0L vogue

i have been told it is digital but needs to be chipped for it to work on the freeview frequencies, not sure exactly what this means

Blimey, whoever gave you that advice was not very helpful, nor very knowledgable either.

Its the same process as going from analogue to digital on your home TV, you can't just chip an old TV to receive digital, you need all the processors to convert the digital signal that comes with a new TV.

Even if you bought a cheap digital tuner from Currys and plugged it into the aerial on the car, you'd only get the one channel coming from the RF socket of the tuner, usually on Ch 37, you couldn't get the head unit to interface with the tuner.

As far as I can see, you need a new digital receiver from Land Rover, or this botch job...

;)On the unit fitted to my P38 you have 2 extra inputs for AV one is taken up by the DVD player leaving one spare which I run the freeview box through same thing as adding a set top box to an analogue tv, whether or not the units in the L322's are diferant I wouldnt know but if you have got extra AV imputs then that may be the cheeper option and the picture quality is still good with a good signal. Hope that helps. :D

i will have a look to see if it has any av inputs i would doubt it but can anybody tell me where the tv tuner is,is it in the boot.thanks G

On the P38 its left hand side of boot behind the Sub but as landrover goes they have probably put it someware else on the L322's.
Happy hunting!!!!!!!!!!!!

spoke to a guy at av solutions in heywood said they do a great piece of kit for £400 + vat supposed to be really good so price is starting to get a bit better

Just a quick note spoke to landrover who said they are working on something at the moment so hold fire rather than spend £700 .
