About to do my first oil change in my Disco 2 TD5. (My first oil change on any car ever, in fact).
I've been through the posts on here, and the consensus seems to be that I can use 5w30 semi-synthetic as long as I change it every 6000 miles.
Assuming that's correct, is it worth spending the extra for a premium brand (Castrol etc.) or will I be OK with an own-brand oil from Asda or Halfords?
Also, any real need to pay for a premium brand filter kit rather than an aftermarket one? I'm looking at either the Paddocks premium kit (Mann / Mahle / Coopers) or the cheapy one (Britpart).
