amp or volt gauge

looking to buy some gauges, what do i need to keep a check on battery condition, amp or volt meter,

voltmeter will give you better idea of battery , and is easier to fit , ammeter with alternator and modern elec loading wiring becomes a bit of a problem . The voltmeter should tell you all you need to know . HTSH

You can get nice cheap digital ones and a clock if you want------

For an older Landy the TIM gauges aren't a bad match to the original

I went for voltmeter, turbo gauge and oil pressure

Hi Matt. ordered three gauges volt boost and rev, unfortunately the rev counters are not compatible with td5, so will just get the others, going to confirm the order tomorrow.

Just bought a TIM voltmeter for the landy and am after a bit of advice for wiring it in.

It has 2 sets of wires. 1 + & - for the feed and another + & - for the backlight.

I have a 1986 90 2.5na. Can anyone shed some light on which wires (colours) I need to wire it up to ?

My 90 has the 3 way switch for the interior light/ dashboard illumination/ off.

where are you fitting it?

+ feed can go to ANY switched live - mine is joined into the cigarette lighter

- feed can go to any screw into the bulkhead, or joined into any existing negative (usually black)

Lighting -ve can go to same place as feed -ve

Lighting +ve - if you have a lit cigarette lighter join into that circuit, if not join into the lighting circuit for your main gauges (if you remove the dash binacle you'll see a wire just going from each gauge to gauge for their lights)
