We have took the standard tape player out, and with the new cd player in there is a load buzzing noise coming through the speakers. ive been told its the standard amp and that its gone faulty, but i am not sure where it is located. I would be grateful for answers.

As with most things on a P38 its not quite as simple as just replacing the alpine unit with something out of the box (unless its another stock unit). Too many speakers and amps. There is a work around as shown on rangerovers.net but I think you have to know your way around car stereos to have a go.

People with far more knowledge than me will be along to correct me if I'm wrong!!

hi sorry i just noticed the year 1999 ,ok the main amp is at the rear left compartment where the cd multichanger is . (A ) drop rear left seat down

(B ) remove top panel ( 3 studs ) lift off carefully

(c ) remove side panel (4 screw studs ) half turn . remove panel this should reveal subwoofer there is either on top or inside subwoofer an amp

(d ) remove subwoofer and multichanger that leaves another panel

( E ) undo panel (3) studs pull away at the front but watch the back near the seat as its fixed there as you pull it away you see the inner metal frame covered with a thick insulation pull insulation away and main amp is there undo the (3 ) nuts and remove the cable is fixed in with a push down plastic clamp push up wards and loom comes out then u can bench test also bench test the subwoofer amp at same time ...hope this is usefull cheers manchestermozz:):):)
