Hello

I need to get the suspension compressor off my D3 to gain access to sill for welding.

I've took the lower cover off and it's an AMK compressor so my haynes is redundant.

Any advice gratefully received on how to remove it, which pipes to disconnect and what not.

Also there's this translucent pipe that looks a bit bodger with tape. It just pulls out without any resistance

Never mind :p

I should back myself more often, sorry

Question stands r.e that clear pipe, should that be more secure and what's it for?

The spring feet compressor sits on have a lot of travel, are they meant to be like that?

Can’t help there, I swapped my compressor for another genuine Hitachi one, figured it had lasted 11 years so I’d be happy if the new one lasts as long.

Cant help with the pipe as I cant see the small images for some reason, but I had my AMK off the other day and dont recall a clear pipe, the sprung loaded feet have loads of wibble/wobble, remember to grease all the bolts when refitting.

Edit I can see the image now, think you will find that pipe is the intake which is also used as the vent when suspension is lowering ie air flows both ways but no massive pressure so whilst tape isnt quite right its obviously done the job so far.
The intake filter is inside the chassis rail passenger side not from the epb module, pretty sure Gary posted an image up some time ago.

Cheers mate, I wonder if that's the cause of my intermittent suspension fault?

Is the filter something I can clean out while I'm in there?

Struggling to get that driveshaft out now and welder isn't answering my calls

Hi

The compressor air filter sits inside the boots side locker , passenger side

The other large thing which i suspect what that clear tube is for the silencer assembly ,

Filter in the last pic is the round black canister , u can indeed clean it out, has 2 x filters inside

Hope it helps

Air Harness Diameters

PIPE DIAMETER

High pressure pipe
6 mm
Compressor inlet
8 mm
Air intake filter to silencer
8 mm
Compressor exhaust
10 mm
Silencer exhaust
19 mm

Wonder if that clear tube is 19mm in dia , lol

Clicked the link for the suspension info, already had it, you must've give it me already lol

Haha maybe not silencer exhaust then, don't remember seeing a pipe that big! Prob 8/10mm so as @lynall said, probably intake/exhaust.

Just want her back on the road now, struggling :(

I can rememebr the D2 compressor intake filter was bloody expensive and that lived right behind the LH rear light and the sunroof drain was right above it!

Hi

That sounds about normal for a Land Rover, lol

Not sure how expensive the filters are, but they only consist of 2 x felt like filters inside anyway , easily cleaned

As D3 filter is inside car maybe the filtration is not so critical as being mounted outside? but you just know its the same part on both cars!

Back playing you up?
Place is normally dead this time of day
Just had a cup of coffee, now going to walk the dog and scare some rabbits:D

Indeed , I normally put a baby gate by the front door so candy can lay there in the hallway whilst I work on the car

Was coming back indoors and caught my foot on the bottom of the baby gate so went flying forward and yanked the absolute crap out my back

Can’t sleep as climbing the wall , don’t know whether to standup , lay down etc

Never mind there should be some programs on demand, fingers crossed, lol

Enjoy the walk and can’t beat a nice wrabbit stew

Lol, my dog is a cold hearted bird killer,, can see with picture evidence as well , lmao

Sounds a good mornings work

Ah a boat , something I’ve always dreamed of owning , extremely jealous, of course know there’s a lot of hard work owning one but something I always wanted , adore wreck fishing and scuba diving , didn’t like night diving though , spooky as a big fish came into the torch spotlight

Enjoy the bevvies :)
