Am I "wasting" time and money on a disco?

Thanks for all the replies.

It makes me feel better knowing that other owners have the same logic re cost, performance and capability. At the weekend I went to the Billing show, in what other vehicle could you drive there on the motor way, load up with a few spares, take around a quite challenging off road course, drive through rivers and lakes, and then drive home with no trouble at all.

Superb day out, and reminded me how much fun they are. Given me the push i needed to get the next round of work done and I even came home with a Husky Winch to rebuild. Couldn't be happier.

Thanks again.

Personally I think that Discovery 2 prices have more or less bottomed out. People are scared of the 3, 3 and 4 cost more in road tax.

The D2 is user maintanable, repairable, can have various parts replaced with long lasting parts (galv chassis, stronger heads).

In fact I saw a D3 for only £1000 more than my D2, but I think I could make my D2 last for another decade.

I think they have a lot going for them.

Pre CANBUS, great Diesel engine, replacable chassis, they even handle well for a live axle off roader.
