Am I Mad ?

Hi Guys,
going to look at a 97 P 2.5DSE this evening - it looks very good and has full service history + all bills . but it has done 165K miles! - price is £6495
is this too high mileage - i have been told that the BMW 2.5 diesel is good for 250K providing it's been looked after

would be great to hear from anyone who has one with similar mileage

Ive got a 96; DSE with 151k on it... No problems at all so far ( touch wood! ) . Can only tell you about my experience,but ive got no mechanical probs at all,no smoke,clonks or rattles..Was brought WITHOUT full service history,or any at all really..So its not a special 1 off pampered motor.
Ive been lead to belive they are a solid long running engine..Have had a few niggly electrical problems,door locks etc,but that seems to be across the board regardless of age/condition.Just pot luck?
Only thing id say is my air suspention is begining to play up (slow riser) but again,from what ive read this can happen anywhere from 80-90k on?

Hi Jon. That price does sound a bit high. I bought one with 81000 miles and full service history for £6750. They are around if you keep looking. Good luck.

The mileage isn't a problem, especially with the full history, but i'd say its about £1000 more than you should be paying for that age and mileage.
Good luck, hope its a nice one for you but try and get the price down.

hi, went look at that p38 P reg (165K on clock) last night - outside & mechanics great (full history & loads of receipts) but bit of a mess inside - leather pretty badly worn, all headrests missing & a big hole where the radio should be! & the guy wouldn't budge on the price, not to worry Ill keep on looking

mine has done 166k and runs like a dream. i think this bmw diesel lump will run for ever, well until it runs out of oil anyway.

I Bought Mine With A Mileage Of 226000km But It's A Petrol And Its Engine Sounds Like New ... I Don't Know If There's A Different Between Them .. But I Believe That Range Rover Is A Range Rover What Ever It Is ...
