Just driving along, pleasant enough day and so decided to open drivers door window, only for there to be a bang from inside the door and for the glass to drop down into the door cavity. Two seconds later, the bloody heavens open and rain is coming in sideways for the rest of the 30 minute ride home.

Removed door card to find that all four rivets (why not bolts?) that hold the window motor assembly have sheared. This has clearly stressed the linkeages to the point that both the blue nylon sliders have popped out of the window runners allowing the glass to fall.

Removed the sliders from the linkeage, put them back in the window runners , manipulated the linkeages and reconnected the sliders and refitted the spring clips. I replaced all four rivets with nuts and bolts of an appropriate length - refitted door card after testing and Bob's your uncle.

Two problems, the privacy coating on the glass is now scratched where all the linkeages were twisting around inside the door - how much will a new privacy glass set me back, I can't find any on the www.

Secondly now that everything is back together and seemingly working ok, I'm getting an intermittent Airbag Fault message on the dash with the SRS light. It only comes on for a few seconds and is gone again - any ideas?

if you were closer to leeds theres a place down the road from me that charges £40 a window
im sure if you look in yellow pages the'll be a company near you that does the same sort of deal
as for the srs theres nothing in the door to upset so must be somthing to do with the plug under the seat as stated above
you can test your airbags work though

just drive at 40mph into a wall lol
its kind of a one time test only though
