Does anyone know where to source slave brake cyclinders that are aluminium? I need to replace one on the front of my 109, and the iron replacement one seems to corroid really fast.

In my experience, they rot even quicker. After the last one i put on, i vowed never again.
Use red rubber grease to coat the shiny bits and check the dust covers are doing their job

I’ve had both and neither have lasted without packing the piston with pink grease before fitting the rubber dust gator.

Plus 1 on all the above, and if you can not get the pink grease petroleum jelly [ Vaseline ] works as well.

Okay thanks everyone, learned something new.
My brake slave cylinders last years, it is the master I have trouble with as it seizes from lack of use, new one has the gaiter off and some red grease put inside to slow the inevitable down.
Ps I think vaseline is petroleum based?

The trouble is everything they make these days seems to be rubbish. The master cylinder on my 1977 series is original and still works well. (Hope I havent cursed it)

If you find it hard to obtain go to a motor bike shop, they will have it, they call it caliper grease, I think.

Red rubber grease.. results found on ebay etc. Has a non melt agent so it won't get onto brake parts when they get hot
Knew it was safe to use on brakes, but did not know it was vegetarian!
