The Alternator as failed on my discovery 1 , i,m trying to find a replacemant , but which one ??

its for a 1996 300tdi (NON aircon ), serpintine belt type .
i,ve looked on craddocks and paddocks at the ones that say are suitable but both look totally different .

anyone tell me for definate which alternator model/number i need for this year land rover discovery

is there anywhere else i can get one at a good price

see if you have a auto electrical refurbisher near by they should have one or repair yours.
 
e-bay had only one that i think would fit and that was £147 , tenner more than paddocks:rolleyes:

there is a place not too far , but he needs my old alternator and 3 days plus £110 + vat to recondition my unit , i thought that was a bit steep , but maybe i,m wrong .

i,m not 100% sure which is the right model i need , both paddocks and craddocks say 2 different numbers/models

try Burghfield Starter & Alternator Centre - he refurbs and does a good job at a good price (about £50 for mine):D

question :- if the alternator thats on my disco is original which amp will it be 65amp or 100amp.

what is the advantage of upgrade to 100amp if the original is the 65

100 amp, will charge battery quicker, doesn't take alot more to drive. If you are drawing a lot of electrical power or doing short journeys 100amp is a must
 
I'm interested in a 100amp one for mine but all the alternators I find for a 200tdi are 65amp, any ideas where to get a 100amp?
