Series 2 Alternator conversion

can someone give me an idea on both difficulty and cost of converting my series to have an alternator? I want more reliable battery charge and the old dynamo just isn’t cutting it. I want to be able to not have to worry so much.

It's not difficult, just follow the wiring diagram but you will need a mounting bracket that are getting hard to find at a reasonable price.

Agreed, quite easy. Get the right braket, an ACR type alternator around 60-70A, check the pulleys line up, you'll probably need a new fan belt as the alterntor is a bigger dia and may sit a bit futher out. The reg has FADE connections. You can re use the D for the wire to the alternator - big spade and connect it to the B wire that's gets you the charging circuit. Use the F wire as the charge light (small spade) and connect it to the charge light. - check other wire from charge light goes to "ign". E is not used. Hard parts - keeping check of what wires you have conneted where, and getting the belt right.

Do you not have too bridge some connections on the original voltage regulator or are you planning on doing away with that all together.
