Evening all,
Need to replace charging cable from alternator to battery as mine is showing its age and connection on back of alternator is a bit iffy, question is, i have a spare connection on live terminal to battery can i purchase a made up lead of correct length and bolt it to the spare connection on the terminal as apposed to it being fitted into the lead terminal as the original is? Hope this makes sense.

Yes

Yes

Hi Wammers, I have traced cable from back of alternator and it connects into the lead connector to battery along side another which I think goes down to starter solenoid, does that seem correct to you?

Yes it goes to starter solenoid then back to battery via main live cable. Cleaning the terminals and interfaces of connections to solenoid can give good results. Disconnect battery first though.

It's the connection to alternator that is my concern, on close inspection it looks like the cable connector is soon to breakaway from the cable it's self.
