Stupid question maybe. I know there has always been a rule about fitting an extra throttle spring on the carb, but I am about to start trialling a diesel for the first time so I wondered if this reg still applied as the injection pump has a good spring already. Problem is, i've been looking through the ALRC regs and can no longer find the regulation at all, not even for petrol engines.

so two questions.

1 does this reg still exist?
2 If yes, does it apply to diesels?

Thanks to anyone reading this.

B.14 THROTTLE SPRINGS.
B.14.1. A spring shall be fitted acting directly on each throttle-body spindle or lever (where fitted), to ensure positive closure of the throttle in the event of any throttle linkage failure. (See also MSA Reg. E.12.4.2. as amended. Ref “Motorsports Now” Spring 2001, which refers to electronic throttle systems.)

There is no mention of Second throttle return spring so I would imagine it would be ok.
My local club will let you play without a 2nd return spring on a tdi. Your best bet tho is to make one to fit and carry it with you if the scruteneer asks for the second spring to be fitted you can do it there and then I doubt you will get a better spring than what is fitted tho. Jai

yep, agreed. the TDi spring covers it I think, but I wanted to clear it up. I cant find the reg saying a "second" spring.
