I think the seals round the alpine roof windows have 'gone' - they have only been on 16 years! I just can't find them under 'D2 alpine window seals' any where so,can anyone tell me the code number for these on the D2 so as I can search for them them?

After heavy rain like last night, I sometimes find water on the luggage cover in the boot. Unless it's the rear sunroof I suspect it's the alpine windows.
If they're bonded, is the best approach just to go round them with some sealant?

I get water on the boot cover but it's from the tailgate seal.
+1....check the seal at the top and adjust the door slam a bit tighter. Solved mine. The seal has gone on my Alpines as well and allowed some rust to develop around the glass. Cutting them out and re-sealing this summer.

I am going to try to add some sealant to the outside of these alpine windows but what do I use?? I have read lots and have come up with sikaflex as a sealant but it seems to come in different guises. The question is .... is sikaflex the right sealant and which of the many guises do I need? Or do I just forget about it and hand over my cash to something like Autoglass ( who I do not have a high opinion of) ?

I've never heard of the alpine window on D2s leaking - what makes you sure that's what the problem is?

They do leak. The seal material LR use deteriorates in time. Have you ever noticed when you wash the car that black stuff washes out round the roof and rear glass?

Ours is Nov 1998 build date and not a sign of a leak, but if yours are definitely leaking, best thing is to take them out and refit with new sealant. It's all detained in RAVE.

My recent experience of Autoglass is demonstrated by the state of my bonnet, and the significant number of scratches on it. Thus, I agree, IMHO, steer clear.

This is the way, and IMHO - DIY.

Having had the sunroofs replaced/resealed I am thinking that it must be the alpine windows and this thought is strengthened by the copious amount of black stuff that washes out from these windows when my HUSBAND cleans my car.

I don't know if this Captain Tolleys stuff is any good, but it might be worth a try, if only for a temporary repair.

I have two bottles of this already, left over from my caravanning days, so I will give this a try.

I can only go by my experience of Captain Tollys, and that is it doesn't work on leaking Disco roofs.
